My end of 2012 rant (NSFW)

I have just finished 3 days doing crapy bookwork so I’m in the right mood to have a end of year rant and share some thoughts and images.

Rant #1 I don’t understand how people think it’s ok to attack a model with discussing comments about their weight. Such as ” give the girl a burger” or “give her a gym membership”. You would never say that too their faces but your happy to say it in a public forum. In some of my images what you see is not a true representation of what the model looks like, I quite often manipulate the models posing and the lighting to enhance back ribs or to make the curves even curvier. I’m happy for you to critique the crap out of my photography but please leave the models alone.

Rant #2 Guns kill, art makes you think. I don’t own a gun and I never will but I do use guns in my photography. I use guns like I use nudity, to provoke thought and to add drama or a surreal sense to the story. Its like when I put a naked blond pinup model on an American flag holding a Russian gun, at first glance the image looks fine but then, just like that CCmusic factory song  “things that make you go hmmmmmm” did peter not have an American gun or dose the plot thicken. Cookies I love cookies in images. And just because some nutter goes crazy with machine-gun, don’t ask me to delete an image that was taken 4 years earlier.  And yes if something touches me deep enough I might make a thought provoking image rather than words.

Rant #3 Racism and Religion. I don’t have a racist bone in my body, everyone enters this world the same way and are all equal in my eyes. I had a woman from Boston accuse me as been a racist saying a ‘white person dose not have the right to take a photo like that” I replied to her saying that I found her comment very racist, She replied “I’m not a racist I married a cuban”. A lot of my work is like a mirror, what you see in the image reflects your own thoughts and beliefs. Sometimes what you see is what you want to see. As for religion, I believe in the religion that treats every one as equals and doesn’t suppress woman or do unspeakable acts behind the cloak of their faith. I can’t wait to see the day when a woman is aloud to be the head of a religion, but until then I believe in do unto others and pay it forward.

Thoughts: Real beauty is on the inside, be the best you can be and if you do it a lot you will get better, do on to others, pay it forward, and in the words of Natascha ” believe and achieve” Hope you all have an awesome 2013 and thanks for listening to me crap on.
