Wow … You don’t travel lightly .. I think you are an equipment addict , too … Beautiful set ups
yes I’m a gear rat π
Snazzy set up π So the canon lenses are used on the Sonys? Or are you still occasionally using Canon?
Oh not to worry found the answer!! π
Love the “wives” addition! But it sounds more like it could be unsafe for husbands…lol. Good post and thanks for sharing.
Incredible !!! Nice stuff
Okay Peter,
Not only is your bag filled with great gear but what I love the most are your Ziess lens. Oh my to heavy for this one old gal could carry. But you rock for cool gear dam you got some good glass.
yes i love my Zeiss and the Batis is really lightweight as well
Great gear Peter! You have some money invested here. I would be delighted having the chance to try all those Zeiss lenses. Regards.
Yes Zeiss glass makes sony a game changer π
G’day Peter!
Three 85mm’s…
Zeiss Batis 85mm f1.8
Zeiss Milvus 85mm f1.4
Zeiss Otus 85mm f1.4
Which ones do you use when and why? π not many peeps I know have all three to pick from π
Btw – your blog is blocked here in China haha! You are now famous enough to get on China’s radar!
lols
Firstly I love 85mm, my fav lens on the Hasselblad is the 100mm witch is equivalent to around 85mm on 35mm camera.
The Zeiss Otus 85mm f1.4 is my fav lens ever so sharp wide open and an amazing bokeh, if I could only have one lens on my sony it would be the Otus 85mm.
The Zeiss Batis 85mm f1.8 is so small and light compared to the Otus but still amazing quality, I mainly use this for travel and video, also the auto focus comes in handy.
I got the Zeiss Milvus 85mm f1.4 for use on my second camera, Canon 1Dx for my assistant as it was still amazing quality but a lot cheeper, I have since sold my 1Dx.
Hi Peter, your photos are fantastic and they are inspiring me!
I am working with the 7R as well and I am looking for a flash light, which one would u prefere?
thanks, and greatings from germany π
I do like my Canon but I only use it in manual
Can you tell a noticeable difference between the Zeiss Milvus 85 vs Otus 85?
The Milvus 85mm is not an Otus but very close, at less than 1/2 the price it is the best value for money but I love my Otus π
If you have never shot an Otus and only shoot with a Milvus you will be 100% happy
What do you mount the Canon’s on? I missed the mention of Canon bodies?
Sony A7r II and Sony A7s II, I sold my Canon 1Dx
Absolutely love your work, Peter.
Really glad to see that you had posted this, as I have a question for you regarding lighting. Would you recommend speedlights over strobes for your sort of work? Looking into getting one or the other, and I am unsure of which to get: Profoto B1 or the Nikon SB-910.
Thank you for any help you may provide me π
Profit B1 π
Even for on the go type work? Personally I tend not to do a lot of studio work – mainly working outside in various locations. Just not sure if I want to pay the $2000+ for the Profoto or just go for the cheaper SB-910…
Dont worry if you will lost your bag;-)
Hi Peter,
I’m a CT based photographer and LOVE your work. Just purchased your RGGEDU video – worth every penny. I was wondering which specific Elinchrom October you frequently used and more importantly, the stand configuration (including brand and model of arm). Thanks again.
The 135/2 is a Sonnar, not Distagon.
Thanks typo π
Hi, Peter … After seeing many of your excellent photos and some of your tutorials, well … I think I admom you as an idol … I’m sorry … it’s true. I had a young man’s fondness for photography. I left it because the development was expensive and complex for me. Twenty years later .. I have returned with a pocket … lol..and I discover that I still like it and that with the new technique it is … more within my reach, more clean and comfortable too. You know.
I discovered that what interests me the most is the portrait … and the people … in general. Within my possibilities, I prefer Nikon and I am thinking of a camera that has no screen, but a good viewer for the eye. I’m not interested in the screen. I’m going to work inside. In low light and I have continuous lamps that I made myself. I’m not interested in the video … and bi I have no idea what camera to buy. I think 100mm would be fine for what I want. 80 or 100 mm … I’m afraid of the “news” … I see that you use sony successfully … but it is the talent that makes the photos that you do, I think you would do good with any bad machine.
I accept suggestions. And I appreciate your time very much.
Thank you and show you admiration, you are one of my two favorites … the other is a woman … I imagine you know who … and a mixture of the two … as an amateur I would like to do.
Cheers, Lou.
Hi Lou, thank you so much. Awesome to hear you have rediscovered your love for photography π These days all cameras come with a screen, unless you are shooting film, but they have the option to turn the screen off. If you like Nikon, the d850 is a great camera.
